Breadsmith Dry Breadcrumbs

If using fresh bread: Bake bread slices in a 175 to 200 degree oven on a baking sheet for 2 to 3 hours or until completely dry, turning slices once or twice. Let cool. Place bread in a food processor or blender and pulse until you reach the desired consistency. Dry breadcrumbs may be stored in the freezer for up to 6 weeks, or at room temperature in a sealed container for up to 2 weeks.

If using leftover bread: Tear dried slices into 1-inch pieces and place in a food processor or blender and pulse. For small amounts, grate the bread on a hand grater or place in between sheets of waxed paper and crush to desired size with a rolling pin.

 

Breadsmith Buttered Breadcrumbs

Melt 1 tablespoon butter in a frying pan and add 1/2 cup dry breadcrumbs, stirring until golden, about 2 minutes.
